Class System

 

They are 3 main types of skills in Mystic Grove. Combat Skills, Mystic Skill and Healing Skills. Generally if a Companion is high in one skill they have little or no training in the others. There are exceptions to this, but normally this is the rule.
All skills take time, energy, skill and the physical abilities to preform them. There are some Humans who would love to fly support missions, but without the wings, this skill can not be learned. Just as there are some very strong who are unable to preform majick for lack on insight to control it.
As you read you will learn there are different levels to each of these skill classes and what different levels are capable of accomplishing.

 

 

Combat Class

 

Combat Skills range from Civilian to Protector with many levels in between. The higher the class level the more skill the Companion has in combat. Generally those with the highest Combat training have little or no knowledge in Majicks or Healing.
All combat classes have their place and are needed to preform all the assignments to ensure a victory.

Civilian

 


Civilians have no real skill and normally are in politics, education, commerce or entertainment. They will aid during the defense of Mystic Grove during an attack, but normally spend most of their time in the way of others who have some training.
More often then not they try to help by giving instructions no one is currently listening to.
Good of heart and intentions they will always try if at the Tree of Life. More often then not they become one of the injured.
Civilians have no real combat abilities. They will try and might get in a lucky blow earning them valor or loot something of use.

Guardian

 


Guardians never leave Mystic Grove on patrols, but are always at the ready to rush in defense when attacked. This class includes Mystic Grove's Royal Guards, as well as others that live and work normally in The Grove.
They are versed in combat and spend time exercising on the training grounds when their schedule permits.
Guardians often have majickal or healing abilities as well which as used to capacity during defense.
While Guardians do not leave The Grove, they do tend to earn valor quickly when stationed at the Tree of Life in defense of attacks.

Support

 


Support Class Companions provide support for the front lines. Transportation to and from, evacuation of those in need of major healing and distribution of supplies are but some of their duties.
Support Companions provide necessary services but do not think they are without dangers. Flying, running swimming into battle zones to provide needed rations or herbs is not with out risks.
Combat support helps to move patrols closer to the combat zones with speed or move those injured or overwhelmed away. Providing rations, equipment and herbs, they are there to make sure the troops are cared for as well as possible.
Support troops stay out of the actual battle as much as possible, but at times fighting must be done to survive. While they are not often injured, they also rarely get recognized for their valor on the field.

Scout

 


Scouts generally stay out of sight, watching and reporting what they find. Hiding in the bushes, forest skies and sea, they watch and learn to provide intelligence that could save lives later.
Occasionally they are ambushed and taken prisoner, but more often they are seen by the Ungoodly as poor Civilians and not worth the time or effort to attack.
By staying out of sight Scouts can often go their lives without major injuries. This is not always the case though so many have other skills in majick, healing or both.
While normally not the heros of battle, Scouts preform a very important job providing information that saves many lives.

Rogue

 


Rogues use stealth and hidden attacks for quick silent deaths. Trained assassins, they are extremely quiet, agile and efficient.
Rogues are masters of disguise, blending into the shadows, scenery or changing their appearance to move about unnoticed.
Rogues often have some training in majicks or healing. Because their duty often requires them to work alone, they are most often without the support of Mages or Healers and must do for themselves if they are to survive.
Rouges are often used in situations involving the removal of a foe while in the presence of many without bring attention to the patrol. They often go behind enemy lines to preform the duty for which they are needed.

Fighter

 


Fighter's are often well trained in their area of combat. While they tend to train long and hard, they stay specialized in their techniques. Unlike those in the Warrior Class they don't strive to learn all forms of combat, preferring to stay with their strengths.
Fighters are normally right behind the Warriors providing the next line attack. They show no fear as they rush in believing in what they do and protecting those who can not protect themselves.
Fighters also rely upon others in their patrol for survival. A well placed lightening bolt stunning their opponent or a healing spell cast at the right time could mean the difference between life and death.
Like Warriors, Fighters are often recognized for their action and bravery in battle. Often Fighters are placed in a position of Second Command, ready to take over if their Commander falls in battle.

Warrior

 


Warriors are exceptionally strong and well versed in combat techniques. Normally on the front lines of battle, they lead the charge striking fear into the enemy as they approach.
Leading the troops does have it's risk and quite often Warriors take a lot of damage in battle. Their wounds, when received are normally quite serious and many times fatal.
Warriors depend on others in their patrol to aid them from a distance. Those skilled in majick or healing often provide the needed support that allows a Warrior to continue on in the battle.
Warriors often get noticed for their valor and bravery in combat. Patrol Leaders are most often Warriors due to their knowledge in strategy and combat situations.

Protector

 


Protectors are the highest Combat Skill Class. Protectors have been trained in all forms of combat, including weapons, strategy, tooth & claw and hand to hand. They have lightening speed and amazing reflexes.
Protectors rarely fight as their skills are so honed that they are much more valuable protecting those they are with in battle.
Protectors, with their speed, strength and reflexes, are able to see deadly attacks incoming and deflect the blows from their intended targets. Doing so saves many lives on the battle field that would otherwise be lost.
There is only one known Protector in Mystic Grove at this time. The Protection Sphynx was found in the Ancient Ruins and has been granted gifts from the Gods worshiped there. These gifts grant them the skills needed to act in this life saving position.
Protection Sphynx are generally stationed close to a Caretaker's Tree of Life to watch over those on duty to protect The Grove in times of attack. Caretakers know with a Protector on duty the chance for loss of life during defense of Mystic Grove is quite low.

 

 

Magic Class

 

Civilian

Woods Witch

 


A Woods Witch practices the most basic of majicks, simple healing-herbal remedies and basic life enhancing spells like fire or light.
Their knowledge and skill is highly limited, but if it is cold and you would like warm food in the field their services are priceless!
Those of the Wood Witch Class normally specialize in other areas or combat or healing. Their basic mage skills are used only when needed or at celebrations for "sparkle" effects.
Valor is never earned by a Wood Witch for their mage skills, but more often then not they possess skills in other areas of great value.

Alchemist

 


Alchemist's work with herbs, metals and stone to create many potions. Some can be highly explosive or dangerous and are used in battle situations. Other are often high potency healing potions. Other potions are created of course that can alter appearance or structure of it's target.
Many Apprentice Mages and Healers start as Alchemists as alchemy is the basis for many potions and spells.
Alchemist's are helpful in many ways, but during actual combat they tend to stay at the back lines creating more potions and staying out of the actual battle. At home they often have shops in which they sell thier potions.
Alchemist normally have other talents for use in battle such as combat or healing skills that make them useful during such times. Normally not recognized in valor for their alchemy skills, they do get recognized for other abilities.

Seer

 


Seer's use astral energies and natural energies to see into the future (foresight) or across long distances (farsight). Such abilities are beneficial when looking for Ungoodly activity or searching for one who is lost and in need of aid.
Often advice is asked for from Seer's concerning the planning of a special day such as a wedding or celebration.
Majicks cast by Mages with higher skill can somethings disrupt their visions or make their abilities useless. Shields like what are used to hide Mystic Grove are one such type of majick that renders the skills of many lesser Seer's useless.
Seer's are used at home often for planning of various events and Council decisions. In matters of battle Seer's are most often used as another means of scouting.

Sorcerer

 


Sorcerer's use mainly single target bolts when in battle. There skill is not high enough to control area attacks without possibly hitting allies as well as foes.
Sorcerer's tend to focus on one element... fire, water or energy being the main ones and use that element in their attacks. Bolts of lightening stunning the foes or balls or fire or ice can be fatal when direct hits connect to the target.
Sorcerer's skill being lower need to expend more energy casting a spell that one of a higher class could do with ease. For this reason they do tend to tire themselves out more rapidly and are unable to battle for extensive periods of time.
Sorcerer's are capable of damage and provide good attack support in a battle. Because their powers are drained quickly they should be used sparingly or in rotation if enough are available. While they are recovering their energy they are very weak physically and should be looked after.

Conjurer

 


Conjurorer's find it fun and useful to create minions and send them in attack. Whether it be Golems, Elementals, Spirits or the raising of the dead, they create and create sending a horde to overcome the enemy.
Some, like a Stone or Lava Golem, can be quite powerful combatants, others, such as Zombies, work to intimadate and lower the enemies resolve.
Conjurorer's use thier minions in many ways creating havoc and confusion in the enemies line. Thier control and use of the natural materials around them, animating such and controling can be useful in any patrol.
Conjurorer's add confusion and discord to the enemy while lending strenght as well as support in numbers to it's allies. Like Battle Mages they are often looked for and targeted by the enemy so they need a strong front line allowing them to cast thier spells of animation.

Battle Mage

 


To achieve Battle Mage Class, Companions must be natural majick users, trained for combat with generations of study. Battle Mages can levitate, cast shields, cast attacks at many enemies at once and neutralize incoming majickal attacks.
Battle Mages must be protected by the front line fighters for they wear little to no armor against physical weapons and can be easily killed in hand to hand combat. However getting close enough for hand to hand combat can be quite tricky.
Battle Mages offer many bonuses on patrols and in defense. Thier ability to see great distances, and their combative spells give the front line combats an edge over their foes.
Battle Mages tend to gain valor fast because of the devestating fire and ice storms they can rain down upon a whole group of enemies at once. However they must have combatants between them and the enemy. Due to thier high damage abilitiies they are often targeted first by a smart foe as a danger to be eliminated.

Master

 


Masters are the highest level obtainable in the Majick Class. Masters are capable of all forms of majick. Not just combat majick but healing majick as well. Such ability takes a lifetime of training, total dedication and an innate natural skill to accomplish.
They can alter weather, cast balls of fire, far-see and future-see, stun and call to the afterlife bringing back those who are gone.
In battle there is no mage stronger or more useful. Teleportation, offensive and defensive majicks, healing, and scouting by the use of farsite. Their talents are known, respected and recognized.
There is currently only one known Master Mage in Mystic Grove, Merlin. Many of his works are a mystery and his skill unmatched. To have a Merlin fighting beside you is to be on the winning side.
Master Mages can gain valor quickly, smite the enemy with lightening and protect your frontline in battle with a glowing shield. What other abilities a Master can show are always a mystery, as they always seem to have a new trick up their sleeves.

 

 

Healer Class

 

Civilian

 


Civilians have no real skill and normally are in politics, education, commerce or entertainment. They will aid during the defense of Mystic Grove during an attack, but normally spend most of their time in the way of others who have some training.
More often then not they try to help by giving instructions no one is currently listening to.
Good of heart and intentions they will always try if at the Tree of Life. More often then not they become one of the injured.
Civilians have no real healing abilities. They will try and normally just spend time talking in a soothing manner until real Healers arrive.

First Aid

 


First Aid Class Healers have the most basic knowledge. Applying compresses to wounds, salves to stop infection and mild pain relievers to help the injured become a bit more comfortable.
Their knowledge and skills are sorely limited but their aid on the front lines quite valuable to those receiving the treatments.
Most combatants have at least First Aid knowledge having been injured themselves and learning a bit as they were treated.
Medic and First Aid Classes are normally the first to arrive by the side of one injured in battle. Normally because they are also specialized combatants or mages. While they normally are not noticed for their healing talents, they are normally noticed in their main specialty class.

Medic

 


Medics have very weak or untrained Psychic Healing abilities. Their healing ability is limited and used mainly for stabilizing seriously injured so they can receive treatment later.
Often one who has been injured in battle will call for a Medic who have help with minor healing and pain reduction. Once the Medic has stabilized the injured, they are moved to a safer place to be treated by a higher class healer.
Medics ability to heal is natural and flows through them. The main reason for staying at Medic Class is due to interests and specialization in either combat or mage classes.
Medic and First Aid Classes are normally the first to arrive by the side of one injured in battle. Normally because they are also specialized combatants or mages. While they normally are not noticed for their healing talents, they are recognized by valor in their main specialty class.

Herbal Healer

 


Herbal Healers have been trained to use herbs and harvests from the land to make ointments, salves and potions for healing.
By learning recipes passed down from generations in mysterious books and by learning all about the bounty of goods nature offers they are able to heal through the use of nature's abundance.
Learning about each and every type of food, herb, fungus and more is a lifetime of work. Not only do these healer use their medicines to offer relief but also make them so that those trained in higher levels of Healing may make use of this type of healing as well.
Herbal Healers often stay near the home area making and stocking medicines for when they are needed in mass. On the rare times when one joins a patrol, they are often looking for supplies they can not safely find near home or are there for consultation on eatable rations found in the field.

Psychic Healer

 


Psychic Healers are born healers. They don't use herbs or remedies, instead the healing energy they draw from within themselves or from nature around them.
Many Races of majickal origin have such Psychic Healing abilities. Some in lesser degrees so they are only classed as a Medic. Some with stronger awareness to the energy flows around them and that can then use the energy with the power of a Psychic Healer.
Because the ability to feel, understand and direct healing energies is a natural ability, many Psychic Healers need but a minimal amount of training. Many with such a natural ability continue their training in other paths such as that of an Advanced Healer.
Many Psychic Healers also have other skills because so little of their time is used in training the natural ability. Because of this many of the Majick and Combat Classes also have Psychic Healing abilities.

Advanced Healer

 


Advanced Healers use both natural/herbal and mystic energies in their healing. Many of the spells and potions have been passed down from generations and are unique to the race using them.
They tend use as much of themselves and their own energies as they do outside energies and herbs when healing difficult cases.
Advanced Healers believe in the work they are doing and are often taught by their Elders from a young age in the art of healing.
Advanced Healers are in high demand in the field and at home, especially in times of defense. Their dedication in healing those in pain brings them great recognition.

Creator

 


Creators not only heal those living but work to bring forth new life. They are capable of casting the Life Spell calling to the other side and bringing forth gemstones containing the life force of those lost to early in a previous life.
Creators are believers in life and hate to see a life shortened by war or accident. They work hard to heal and to call forth those who wish to return to fulfill their journeys.
Creators are often in battle situations as much as it pains them. Such a place allows them to do the work they love healing and protecting valuable life.
Creators are a vaulable part of any patrol due to their immense knowledge and skill in healing. They tend to stay on the back lines tending to the wounded, but gain much valor in the lives they save.

Resurrector

 


Resurrectors are the strongest of the Healing Class. They can heal wounds instantly and have been known to resurrect the recently dead while still on the battle field. They are also capable of casting an Ultimate Resurection Spell to bring back those who have been long dead and gone.
When casting a life spell they have the chance of calling forth up to 5 gemstones at a time with their powerful calls.
Merlin is of course a member of the Resurrector Class. Very few others have obtained such skill. Emmense time and dedication is involved in the training of such a healer. Resurrection is not the most stable of majicks though and at times the spell fails, at other times it can work but go badly.
Resurrectors are in high demand on the battlefield. Their ability to heal is legendary and in the right setting it is possible for then to cast a Resurrection Spell as an ally falls bringing him back to life before he hits the ground.
Resurrector's, like Creators, also have a unique bond with gemstones and have been known to find rare gems in the field, returning them home the Queen Andune Alcarin.
